Date of event: January 12, 2013, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm

We welcome Holly Mathews, a member of CLIQUE and a participating artist in our current Collective Collaborations exhibit, as a Live Artist.

Holly Mathews moved to San Francisco in 2007 to study at the Academy of Art University and graduated in 2011 with a BFA. As a student, she received the Study Abroad Scholarship which offered her the incredible opportunity to get inspired and study in Italy. Holly was awarded the First and Third place awards in Still Life, as well as the Faculty Choice award at her school’s 2012 Annual Spring Show. She has participated in numerous group shows and is currently teaching at the Academy of Art and is a founding member of the San Francisco Gallery and Community Center, The Drop. Clique is a diverse group of emerging female artists based in San Francisco, California. These women challenge themselves to present unique themed shows often in ways that a traditional gallery wouldn’t.

The group of women met while attending the Academy of Art in San Francisco. After graduation they banded together to form CLIQUE, where they benefit from each other’s knowledge, skills and support. Each member works in a different aesthetic, genre or concept offering a unique point of view, however for their show at Flax, they each participated on a few pieces . The intention of CLIQUE is to elevate women in the arts, present unique experiences for the viewer, and to engage the community. We are proud to showcase these talented artists in a collaborative show.
