Limn Colors, handmulled in small batches in Berkeley, is now available exclusively at FLAX,  online and in-stores. We have all 49 colors and are fortunate to have gathered the remaining inventory of this great paint that has built a steady fan following in our stores and across the country.

These watercolors are truly exceptional. Founder and paintmaker, Amanda Hinton, tells the story about Limn Colors  here. When reading her descriptions of the unique properties of each color she created, it is impossible not to want to sit down and play with brush on paper and explore the color possibilities.

With the best selling color  Caput Mortuum, "a diffused wash brings out darker granulation, violet tones, and red blooms". Using a magnet along the back side of the paper will push the pigment particles in Magnetite around in a wet wash. The popular Quinacridone Magenta has "a broad range of values from pale pink to dark fuchsia". There are even neon colors that react to blacklight.
