Claybord’s surface can take any media from pencil and ink to oils. Pigments can be simply removed with scratch tools to expose the white surface, which becomes part of the finished work. The mineral-coated, pH neutral and lightfast surface of Claybord can be easily manipulated, erased, and reworked. Its coating is a very smooth absorbent clay ground comparable to the clay gesso grounds used during the Renaissance.
Choose from a 1/8" flat panel, or mounted versions in depths of 3/4" and 2". The mounted panels are glued flush with a birch plywood support, providing extra support while giving the panel depth and dimension. Leave the wood sides exposed to help frame your work, or treat easily with wood stain, gesso or paint.
