Copal is a resinous painting medium perfect for glazing and wet-in-wet techniques. With this versatile medium it is possible to paint from extremely thin to heavy impasto. Copal improves flow, speeds drying, and will add a glossy hard finish to the paint when dry.
A modern synthetic version of the traditional 19th century medium, it works especially well for hobbyists and decorative painters. Over time this painting medium may darken or yellow colors, which does not highly recommend it for fine art use or work intended for permanence.
