Retouch Varnish is a clear varnish that leaves an oil painting workable and protected from dirt, moisture and scuffing. This product is ideal for a work that needs to be quickly sealed and protected but is not yet completed. The artist can return to the painting and make any desired changes without creating an uneven looking surface. It will brighten dull or sunken areas of color and will facilitate color comparisons between dried and freshly painted colors.
Retouch Varnish will guard an oil painting until it is ready and sufficiently dry for final varnishing. Because typical maximum drying time for an oil painting takes between 6-12 months, this varnish can help fend off damaging marks from dirt or moisture until that time when the final varnish can be applied.
