The Coates family has specialized in the cultivation of willow in Southwest England since 1819. They have been producing the world’s finest willow charcoal for artists for over 40 years from these renewable willows.
The willow is sorted by diameter and burned in its natural shape, not compressed like most charcoals. This careful process creates a charcoal with a velvety smooth stroke and a rich, deep black hue. These willow sticks are a versatile and indispensable drawing tool for artists.
