Kelly Avery is an artist living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area, who enjoys working in mediums that include graphite, ink, watercolor, acrylics and oil paints. She began as a landscape painter and has included the portrait and figure in her work, and is now rarely seen without a sketchbook in-hand.
"My love for drawing started when I was very young. My grandma worked for a paper supply company in San Francisco and they would often give their employees the irregular or overstocked paper to take home. This gave me an endless supply of paper to draw on. Since I could take pencil and paper anywhere (even where toys could not go), this drawing time was my play time, and I spent endless hours creating other worlds."
"My “play” eventually turned into a deeper study in the arts. Now I like to work in ink, watercolor, acrylics, graphite, and oil paint. In the early years I created large landscape murals in acrylic. Then I went on to study the portrait and the figure. I enjoy all of these genres, and other creative interests include interior design, landscape design and event planning and design. When my schedule permits I also love to share my love for art by teaching art classes."
"My goal in life would be to never lose my enthusiasm and “play” with the creative process and to share this “play” with others."Kelly Avery
