Liquitex Basics Acrylic Gesso is an opaque, matte white primer used to create the ideal foundation for artwork. Use it to prepare porous surfaces such as canvas, wood and paper, for the application of acrylics, oils, charcoal, pastels or pencils. Once dry it adds tooth (surface texture), creating the right absorbency and color adhesion. As a base for oil paints, apply 2-4 coats and sand between applications.
