Live Painting with Robert Reed

Robert Reed is a professional painter living and working in San Francisco. He started painting in 2000 after dropping out of graduate school (philosophy) and began assisting his friend and mentor with drawing classes in the south of France. He returned for seven consecutive years having been inspired by the landscape and culture of Europe.
His art has evolved from landscape painting toward abstraction: he uses satellite imagery and biological forms as primary influences. He paints several layers of acrylic to obtain a richness of color as a background, and then lets process dictate the direction for further play, creating abstract images. His oil paintings are created on paper and canvas.
Robert has shown his work in France and numerous galleries in Northern California. He was recently included in the “10 artists to watch” list by 7X7 magazine and is a 2011 Creative Capacity Grant fund recipient.
Robert previously visited Flax for live painting on October 26, 2010 and December 18, 2010.
