Drawing and painting came easily to Rhoda. While encouraged by teachers to pursue school vs art, she returned to it at age 30 and has been making up for lost time.

Rhoda draws in a variety of styles, mediums and venues and her favorite subject is the female nude, especially a zaftig (full-figured) one. Gesture drawing, capturing the essence of a pose in just a minute or two.

Her goal is to retain the fresh energy of quick studies in her paintings on canvas,  often combining two or more simple poses to develop more complex compositions that can include abstract or playful elements. 

"I never tire of finding new ways to blend digital and traditional techniques." 

Rhoda enjoys and frequently works as a Live Artist "Rhoda Draws A Crowd" where she creates live caricatures at events, using either traditional pencils or Painter software.  As the Live Artist for FLAX, Rhoda will create an expressive canvas inspired by the products—and people— in our store.
