Live Art with Todd Berman
Posted by Flax on 22nd Jul 2013
Date of event: August 3, 2013, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Traveling the world and his local neighborhoods with sketchbook in-hand, San Francisco artist Todd Berman continuously gathers information and ideas for his artwork. Todd’s art reflects a collaboration between his vision, and neighborhood. Don’t be surprised if he stops you on the street and asks you to draw your portrait. In fact, he will ask our FLAX customers to participate and draw. He then takes those personalized drawings and collages them into a larger scene, capturing a chaotic sense of community in vibrant drawings and paintings.
“What I am saying with my artwork is ‘Look how fun this is! Let us all constantly re-imagine the world around us.’ I encourage strangers to become a part of my world while inspiring their creativity and the result is a painting that represents diversity within our community.”
Todd grew up back east and moved to San Francisco in 1998. He has a BA in Public Policy from Brown University and continues his arts education through programs at UC Berkeley Extension and the San Francisco Art Institute. We welcome Todd back for a return visit. His first time to Flax was April, 2012. Please visit his website for more: theartdontstop.com
