Live Art with Emily Lounsbury
Posted by Flax on 9th Sep 2012
Date of event: September 15, 2012, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Emily Lounsbury is a Bay Area native who has been drawing ever since she could hold apencil. From an early age she took an interest in the arts and began painting seriously on her own in her early teens. She has always had a particular interest in drawing and painting portraits because of the unique challenges presented when trying to capture someone’s likeness.
In 2006, Emily graduated from the Academy of Art in San Francisco with a degree in Fine Art. She received the BFA Director’s Choice Award in the annual Spring Show that year. Since then she’s exhibited her work in many group and solo shows, as well as being commissioned for private and public works. Her artwork is collected all over the world from Japan to Finland.
After receiving her degree, she taught art to children and continues to offer private art lessons for both children and adults.
While Emily works with a great variety of media, for her visit at Flax she will continue with her current full-time project, creating “Pastel Pet Portraits” .
