Begonia Blossom Herbert is a painter from Santa Cruz, although she now calls herself a Modern San Franciscan. She is best known for her acrylic abstract works, and the stencils Begonia designs herself. She prides herself in being mostly self taught.
Begonia began to study art in high school and fell in love with the darkroom. She intended on pursing photography, dabbled in graphic design and finally found her calling with painting. Although she still enjoys photography, Begonia mostly pursues the visual arts and has gained respect from her original paintings using acrylic paints.
She describes her style as being the birth child of Salvador Dali and Picasso, embodying elements from both the Surrealist and Cubist painters.
Begonia as exhibited artwork in Los Angeles, Berkeley and San Francisco. She currently is represented by Big Umbrella Studios, a San Francisco gallery.
