A contemporary painter influenced by French Impressionism, Rhonel Roberts creates in oil, watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil and charcoal. Expressing himself through the medium of painting, Rhonel brings people, places and things to life.
“I began to pursue art classes in Junior High and High School, beginning with basic drawing classes using india ink.” he explains. After receiving a scholarship to the University of Pacific, in Stockton, Ca, Rhonel studied the basics of color, composition, art history, printmaking and sculpture.
Working for several years as a professional CAD Drafter and Technical Illustrator with Lockheed Missiles and Space Company, Rhonel also successfully markets a line of greeting cards he created.
A recent honor for Rhonel was when his painting of Hugh Masekela was chosen as the poster image for the 2011 Fillmore Jazz Festival.
The artist lives and works in San Francisco, teaching art in the public and private school system. Please visit his website rhonelroberts.com.
