This Fort Mason Center T-shirt celebrates Fort Mason's rich history and function as a gateway to the Pacific. It features a graphic of the San Francisco Port of Embarkation, one that we discovered with the help of the wonderful people at the Presidio Archives. It is a classic, genuinely iconic image that is unmistakenly San Francisco. Included with each shirt is an interpretive tag with some of the interesting history:
From 1915 through the 1950s, the Fort Mason area served as the US Army's major West Coast shipping port and a giant supply funnel that provided provisions to remote military outposts. During the 45 months of World War II, over 1.6 military men and women and more than 23.5 million ship tons of material sailed through the Golden Gate on their way to islands in the Pacific Ocean.

During that time, the US Army Transportation Corps developed this striking logo to embody the mission and the historically significant landmarks of the San Francisco Port of Embarkation.
The T-shirt is made from a soft blend of heather green cotton/poly (60% combed ring-spun cotton and 40% poly), which is supremely comfortable and durable.
