Live Art with Angie Crabtree & Jessie Rai
Date of event: November 3, 2012, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Angie Crabtree is a working artist and art teacher in San Francisco. She graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2009, and attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Her work is based around ideas of American culture, social status, and trends. Each series varies in mediums, ranging from traditional graphite and gold leaf, to non-archival materials like moss and sugar.
Jessie Rai, age 13, has been painting since she was 5 years old. For the past 6 years, she has been developing her artistic skills alongside Angie. She attends the Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts, and travels weekly to San Francisco to develop her work. Her current series serves as a commentary on social status and food, including paintings of caviar, saffron, and truffle mushrooms.
This year, Jessie and Angie have been collaborating on a show titled “The American Dream”, which opens at Studio 17 Gallery. For more information, visit angiecrabtree.com
