Winsor & Newton Drawing Inks have been a favorite among illustrators, designers, calligraphers and artists since their introduction in the 1890’s. Today these inks are formulated from a series of soluble dyes in a superior shellac solution. Silver, gold, white and black, however, are metal-based and formulated with pigments respectively. The versatile Drawing Inks can be applied with a brush, dip pen or airbrush (watch for clogging) on a number of surfaces from paper and board to certain acetates.
All colors are intermixable and can also be easily diluted with water to reduce the strength of the color or to increase its transparency. The dye-based inks are not as lightfast as the pigmented black and white or metal-based silver and gold, though they are fast drying and water-resistant.
Gold, Silver and Black Indian inks available in 30ml (1oz.) glass bottles; additional colors available in 14ml (.5oz.) bottles
