Creating art has become his outlet for defining an unpredictable world. Once he chooses a subject, he seeks to record all the variations within that group, to make the artwork “complete.” Blackstock researched from various countries’ flags, along with such familiar patterns as plaid, checkerboard, and a brick wall.
