How to personalize your artist's apron!

A simple, easy-to-make, creative project that requires only a few materials. All you need is a canvas apron, a stencil (available in our stores), a can or two of mtn water based spray paint, and a little inspiration.

Step 1

First, prepare your surface. We created a black background for this stencil so that the lines of the tiger's face would appear in black. (You can leave the surface raw if you wish the fabric to show in your design.)

Step 2

Position your stencil on the surface you wish to paint. Remember that the area covered by the stencil will not get painted.

Step 3

Now choose a color to cover the negative space of the stencil design.

Step 4

You can use multiple colors!

Step 5

Remove the stencil and step back in awe! We added a few splatters with white spray paint to finish off the design.

Step 6

Once the paint has dried, you can heat set your garment by running it through a dryer.

This technique  will work on denim and even t-shirts. You can use stencil letters to spell out your name, use multiple stencils to create a layered design, or even make your own stencil.

This project would make a great Valentine's day project for the artist in your life!
